A twist has arrived ahead of The Crown season 5. It's only just now been revealed who will play the young Prince William.
Senan West will take on the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It'll be the 13-year-old's first appearance in front of the camera, and it turns out he has a connection to another cast member.
The Crown season 5: Senan West cast as Prince William
Senan West is the son of English actor Dominic West — who just so happens to be playing Prince Charles in the new season of The Crown. The father-son duo will also appear on-screen as the royal father and son.
Princess Diana, the mother of Prince William, will be played by Elizabeth Debicki, who was recently spotted on set recreating Diana's iconic Revenge Dress. It is not yet known who will take on the role of Prince Harry.
Season 5 of The Crown is set to take place in the 1990s, which would feature William in his teens and Harry still as a young boy. In the previous season, they had only minor roles as small children.
In addition to Charles and Diana, the Queen, Prince Philip, and Princess Margaret will also play major roles. For the fifth and sixth seasons, all the characters have been recast from the fourth.
It is the third new line-up of stars in the series, which covers several decades of history. For the final two seasons, Imelda Staunton will play the Queen, Lesley Manville joins as Margaret, and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip.
Season 5 is expected to be released in November 2022.
