Prince William

Prince William is the son of Lady Diana (†36) and Prince Charles. He is the Duke of Cambridge and has been married to Duchess Kate since 2011. William is in second place in the succession to the throne after his father Charles.

Prince William was born as the first-born son of Lady Diana (†36) and Prince Charles, his parents officially separated in 1992 and his mother Diana tragically died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

Prince William's training took place at the Sandhurst Military Academy. Working as a helicopter pilot, William had several rescue missions and was involved in a six-week mission to the Falkland Islands. In September 2013, William announced the end of his military career.

Prince William: His children are his pride and joy

Duchess Kate and Prince William met at the university in 2001. Their love story is not a perfect one: they have been a couple since the end of 2002 and were separated for a few months in 2007. In 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey in London.

In July 2013 the first child of Prince William and Duchess Kate was born: Prince George. Princess Charlotte was born in May 2015, followed in May 2018 by Prince Louis baby number three.

Prince William: Commitment to wounded soldiers

While Prince William is committed to many nonprofit organizations, his commitment focuses on sports programs and the support of soldiers. Together with Prince Harry, he is also patron of the Invictus Games in London, where war-disabled soldiers from 13 nations compete for medals.

 • Prince William went on his first state visit to another continent at the age of nine. His mother Lady Diana took him to Australia and New Zealand in 1983.
 • Before his wedding with Duchess Kate he only had 30 minutes sleep. The cheering crowd in front of his father's house and the nervousness kept him awake.
 • Prince William spent a night on the streets of London to be better able to put himself in the position of homeless people.
 • Prince William had a crush on Cindy Crawford as a teenager, whereupon his mother invited the supermodel for lunch.
