As every year, the Cambridge family has sent out their official holiday greeting card with a family portrait. While in recent years Duchess Kate, Prince William and the kids have beamed in autumnal pictures from their home in England, this time they decided on a summery theme — here's why.
The meaning of Prince William and Kate's Christmas card 2021
The family picture was taken while on vacation in Jordan, and it has a special meaning to Duchess Kate. When she was 2 years old, her family lived in Jordan. Her father Michael was transferred there for his work with an airline.
The Middletons lived in Jordan for almost three years, according to The Independent. Kate enjoyed it there very much and still has a deep connection to the country.
That's why the Duchess was thrilled to vacation in Jordan this year. There, she was able to show her former home not only to her husband but also to her children George, 8, Charlotte, 6, and Louis, 3. Prince William had been to Jordan before, but never with Kate.
The new Christmas card from the Cambridges shows not only the family's connection to the Arab country but also how much the children have grown. Prince Louis in particular has grown up and really resembles his brother George.
Princess Charlotte, on the other hand, looks more and more like her mother. In addition, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have already shared their annual Christmas card.
The couple chose a picture that reflects on our current situation. In the snapshot, which got a range of fan reactions, Prince Charles helps his wife adjust her face mask. Queen Elizabeth II, however, has not yet published a Christmas card.
