Princess Diana was a big Tina Turner fan.
In fact, Prince William just revealed that his mother's go-to driving song was Turner's 1989 hit "The Best." He recalled a nice story about him and Prince Harry singing along with Diana while she drove them to school back in the day.
Princess Diana sang Tina Turner with William and Harry
Prince William shared the story in his new Time to Walk episode, which drops on Dec. 6. He told it like this: "When I was younger, Harry and I, we were at boarding school. And my mother used to play all sorts of songs to kind of while away the anxiety of going back to school.
"And one of the songs I massively remember and has stuck with me all this time, and I still, to this day, still quite enjoy secretly, is Tina Turner's 'The Best' because sitting in the backseat, singing away, it felt like a real family moment.
"And my mother, she'd be driving along, singing at the top of her voice. And we'd even get the policeman in the car, he'd be occasionally singing along, as well."
Turner's track was a global hit in 1989 and cracked the Top 5 in the UK singles chart — so it makes sense that the royals were into the tune back in the day.
In Prince William's new talk, for the Apple Fitness+ show Time to Walk, he also revealed that AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" is the song that gets him "into the grind of the week."
Meanwhile, the Duke's children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis currently go "crazy" to "Waka Waka" by Shakira, he revealed.
William recorded his new chat during a walk on the Sandringham Estate. You can click here for all the details on the royal's Time to Walk episode.
