Prince William and Duchess Kate recently sat down to talk about a subject that's very important to them! On Thursday, the Time to Change campaign shared a new video on social media that sees William and Kate address the importance of changing people's perceptions when it comes to mental health.
William urges people to "keep talking" about mental health
William and Kate are both dressed casually in the video, wearing dark-coloured turtlenecks as they sit on a couch together. The Duke of Cambridge began by mentioning that Time to Change has been around for 15 years, and thanking those who are "helping to challenge the stigma which surrounds mental health" through the organization.
He then went on to explain that while discussion about mental well-being has "moved into the mainstream as part of our daily lives," people need to continue to make the effort to keep it there. "We need to keep talking, keep taking action and continue to stand up to the stigma," he continued.
Kate says mental and physical health should be valued
Kate also shared her thoughts on the topic, echoing William's sentiment that there is still progress to be made. The Duchess of Cambridge spoke about how the Time to Change initiative has been able to "transform attitudes and encourage more openness about mental health in schools, communities and the workplace."
"However, the work isn’t done yet and we cannot afford to stop here," she added, saying people should "value our mental health just as much as we value our physical health." Earlier this month, William and Kate heard about the impact of their mental health hotline, and talked to paramedics in London about their well-being. They've also been making video calls during lockdown to check in with frontline workers and families!
