Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are set to welcome a new baby into their family next year, but tradition means their child likely won't be receiving a royal title! As People reveals, while Eugenie and Jack's baby will be 11th in the line of succession to the throne, the customary way of granting royal titles means chances are slim they'll have one awarded to them!

Eugenie and Jack didn't receive new titles upon marriage

Eugenie and Jack married in 2018, and neither of them were given a new royal title during the occasion! Jack now formally goes by "Mr. Brooksbank" while Eugenie remained "Princess Eugenie," choosing to add the suffix "Mrs. Jack Brooksbank" to her name in lieu of a royal title.

As People explains, royal titles are traditionally bestowed upon a member of the royal family by Queen Elizabeth II. When Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in May of the same year, the queen dubbed Harry the Duke of Sussex, which subsequently made Meghan the Duchess of Sussex. A similar thing happened for Prince William and Kate Middleton upon their marriage, as the couple became known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

Eugenie and Jack's child expected to have independent income

Eugenie and Jack's baby won't be the only royal newborn to go without a title! While William and Kate's children— Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis— were all given royal titles, Harry and Meghan chose for their son Archie to remain without one! Instead, Archie received the suffix "Mountbatten-Windsor" at the end of his name.

And as People shares, it's also likely that Eugenie and Jack's child will be financially independent! Even though the future royal baby is Queen Elizabeth II's great-grandchild, it's said that they are expected to make an income of their own instead of relying on funds from the royal family.

Eugenie and Jack announced on September 25 that they're expecting, taking to Instagram to share the happy news. Several members of the royal family have already reacted to the pregnancy reveal and congratulated the couple, including Princess Eugenie's mother, Sarah Ferguson. We're excited to meet the new member of the royal family when they arrive early next year!
