Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are expecting their first child together in "early 2021." The married couple revealed the big news today — and the Royal Family has begun to share reactions.
Sarah Ferguson on Princess Eugenie's pregnancy news
Eugenie, 30, is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York. Royal mum Sarah responded to her daughter's life-changing news with pride and happiness. In a statement, she wrote:
"I am so excited by the news that Eugenie and Jack are expecting their first child. Thrilled for them both and in my 60th year cannot wait to be a grandmother. Welcoming a new baby into the York family is going to be a moment of profound joy."
It's a family first for soon-to-be grandparents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who themselves divorced in 1996. Their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, was married earlier this year in a secret ceremony, but Eugenie and Jack's would be the first child between the two royal sisters.
Royal Family reacts to Eugenie and Jack's baby news
In the Royal Family's Sept. 25 announcement of the pregnancy, their message likewise relayed that the Duke and Duchess of York as well as the Queen and Prince Philip are "delighted with the news." The original post featured a picture from Eugenie and Jack's 2018 royal wedding.
On Twitter, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla wrote: "Congratulations to HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank!"
The couple themselves, meanwhile, shared that they're "so excited" for the early 2021 due date, in an Instagram reveal of their own.
Eugenie and Jack were married in October 2018, and the couple will welcome the British Royal Family's first baby since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had Archie last year.
