Prince William's love of football knows no bounds. So much so that it can startle his children.
The Duke of Cambridge has opened up about his lively participation when football is on TV at home. It turns out his "nerves" lead to a noisy and active few hours. Here's how Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis respond to their dad's behaviour.
Prince William says George, Charlotte & Louis look at him "in horror"
Prince William shared the amusing story during the Aug. 1 screening of the FA Cup Final, which he hosted with Heads Up on the lawn at Sandringham House. But the week earlier, the Duke had watched Aston Villa F.C. take on West Ham United F.C.
A devoted Villa fan, William said: "The nerves were the worst I've ever known them. My children looked at me in horror as I was jumping off the sofa, screaming my head off."
Villa's July 26 match went in Prince William's favour, a 5-1 win. Nonetheless, on Saturday, he told guests: "It's very good news that as president of the FA I can hide away until these moments, and I'm not visibly seen because it was one of the most stressful moments of my life, as I imagine every Villa fan felt on that day."
Prince William is at it again with Astona Villa fandom
This was far from the first time that William's fandom got intense, too. Just last week, the Duke of Cambridge reflected on his "out of control" excitement after a 2019 match between Liverpool and Barcelona. The outcome prompted him to overtake Kensington Palace's Twitter page and post his first-ever tweet.
The prince's attendance at the Aug. 1 football screening also marks his family's return to Anmer Hall after enjoying a brief getaway to the Isles of Scilly. While the children may not yet fully grasp their father's football intensity, they may be on their way there. George and Charlotte joined William at a Villa match in October, even showing some celebrations of their own.
