Duchess Kate may have spent her 39th birthday in lockdown, but her family was still committed to making it a special day.
The Duchess of Cambridge turned 39 on Saturday, but she was unable to host her usual shooting party at Anmer Hall due to lockdown restrictions in the UK. Instead, Kate followed the lead of her family, who had a special plan for her.
Duchess Kate's birthday with Prince William and their children
According to Daily Mail, Kate had a "quiet birthday" on Saturday that came with a surprise led by Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis: a family tea party. The meaningful gesture would have come at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where the family is living in lockdown.
"Birthdays have been very different in recent months," The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote on Instagram, adding that "our thoughts continue to be with all those working on the front line at this hugely challenging time." The message came as William and Kate's office thanked fans for the "kind wishes" alongside a picture of the Duchess in a mask and gloves.

The Royal Family and Clarence House, the office of Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, also greeted Duchess Kate for her birthday. On Instagram, the Royals wished her "a very happy birthday," while Charles and Camilla simply wrote "Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Cambridge!"
The Cambridge family is currently locked down at Anmer Hall, where they spent most of their time during the pandemic in 2020. On Saturday, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were also the first members of the British Royal Family to receive first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
