Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan have managed to conquer the hearts of two royal princes. Kate and Prince William met at St. Andrews University in Scotland at the end of 2001, Meghan and Prince Harry actually met on a blind date in 2016, they were set up by a mutual friend. And although both of them married into the royal family, they couldn't be more different.
Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan: Where are they from?
Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan are fundamentally different: William's wife was born in Reading, Berkshire in England in 1982 and is the eldest daughter of Michael Francis Middleton and Carole Elizabeth Middleton, who both used to be flight attendants. Since 1987, her parents are successfully running Party Pieces, an online business that sells party decorations and supplies.
Unlike Duchess Kate, Duchess Meghan was born in Los Angeles, California in 1981. Her mother Doria Loyce Ragland worked at a travel agency. Her father Thomas Wayne Markle, on the other hand, worked as a lighting director for the TV series General Hospital and Married... with Children. So from a very early age, Meghan was made familiar with show business and working on a set, which sure contributed to her pursuing acting when she was older.
Duchess Kate & Duchess Meghan: Their jobs before becoming royals
Before her marriage to Harry, the brunette was mainly known from her role in the popular legal drama Suits, in which she played the paralegal (and later lawyer) "Rachel Zane" from 2011 to 2018. Before Meghan could become a working member of the royal family, she had to leave the series after the end of the seventh season.
Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan had very different jobs before becoming members of the royal family. Kate had no experience in the limelight, on the contrary: From November 2006 to October 2007, she worked part-time as an accessory buyer for the British fashion label Jigsaw. At the end of 2008, she took a position in her parents' company. At Party Pieces, she was primarily responsible for catalog design, marketing, and photography.
Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan are also very different when it comes to their appearance: While Kate, as the wife of the future king dresses rather conservatively, and Meghan, who uses her former surname again, can often be seen with bolder styles and does not always care so much about royal etiquette.
In the future, Meghan won't have to take the royal rules that seriously anyway. In early 2020, Meghan and Harry officially stepped back from the royal family and are now living in Los Angeles with their son Archie.
