In its day, it was one of the biggest royal scandals: Charles had an affair with Camilla during his marriage to Princess Diana.
Some time after Diana's death, Charles made the relationship with his also divorced partner official.
As Prince Harry now writes in his biography Spare, his father received formal approval from his children for the relationship.
When Charles introduced William and Harry to Camilla
William and Harry were introduced to Camilla, and Charles then asked them both what they thought of her as his girlfriend.
"When the question came," Harry writes, "Willy and I promised our father that we would welcome Camilla to the family."

William and Harry's concern was that if they married, Camilla would be compared to Diana.
This is how they are said to have asked their father: "'We support you,' we said. 'We endorse Camilla,' we said. 'Just please don't marry her, just be together, Pa.'"
