Thursday this week was April Fools' Day, a time when you must beware of what you read online. But Piers Morgan apparently still managed to make April Fools out of many of his Twitter followers.

On Thursday morning, Morgan had his fans and haters talking after he tweeted that he'd been offered his job back on Good Morning Britain and that he'd chosen to accept. He set it up like this:
"Following the Archbishop of Canterbury's confirmation that Meghan Markle was talking a load of old flannel in her Oprah interview, ITV just offered me my GMB job back and I've decided to accept."
The story referenced his GMB exit, which came after he controversially said he didn't believe "a word" Duchess Meghan said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Morgan has since celebrated that the Archbishop contradicted the story Meghan told about a secret wedding to Prince Harry days before their royal wedding, viewing this as validation of his argument.
"The nation's prayers have been answered. See you Monday!" Morgan wrote, with a picture of himself on GMB with presenter Susanna Reid and the Archbishop.
After several hours of trickery and uncertainty, Morgan returned to Twitter with a video explaining it was a prank. "I can tell you now that I'm not actually going back to Good Morning Britain. That was just a little April Fools' joke," he said. "But ooh did I catch some big fish with this one. Most amusing," he added.

The video went on to reveal Morgan's true intentions behind his attention-seeking prank: that his new book had been released on April 1. "Help an old jobless man in his hour of need. Thank you," he says to conclude the video.
But Morgan jobless? Not quite, as he has still worked with his Daily Mail column since he voluntarily quit GMB last month following a confrontation about his rant on not believing "a word" of Meghan's interview, despite her personal discussion of suicidal thoughts and experiences with racism.
Morgan stormed off GMB after Alex Beresford held him accountable for his remarks, and he quit later that day. Sadly, Beresford also opened up this week about the disturbing racist abuse he's experienced online since the showdown with Morgan.
