Sadly, like most of the stars of his time, drugs and partying slowly get the best of him leading him into a downward spiral of mixed emotions and fleeing fame...

When does Denzel Washington ever disappoint? In the 90's classic Malcolm-X we follow the public activist Malcolm-X as he struggles through a rough childhood and, inevitably, prison only to emerge as one of the leaders in the fight for African American rights! If you guys are history nerds like us, we know you'll love this one!

This has become a really well-known classic! The Matrix did everything right: the characters, the futuristic setting and the mind-boggling plot were all things that were newer at the time! Top that off with the movie's political messaging and the great action scenes and you, my friend, have a masterpiece! 

Weatherman "Phil Connors", played by Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, is cynical man to say the least. He has been sent to the town of Punxsutawney for the fourth year in a row to document the festivities of Groundhog Day, a huge event which celebrates the town's mascot: the groundhog! After his day of working, he goes to bed with the thought of leaving the godforsaken town and never returning, but due to a turn of events, he ends up reliving February 2nd over and over again! 

Slacker gives you the inside scoop of a day in the life of citizens of Austin, Texas! The camera wanders around from place to place showing us the social misfits, the outcasts and the over educated. A very interesting work of art that we would definitely recommend you check out! 

In the movie The Piano, "Ada McGrath" (Holly Hunter) is a mute woman from Scotland who, because of an arranged marriage, has to move to New Zealand with nobody, but her daughter and their most prized possession, their piano. Seeming optimistic, the mother and daughter arrive in New Zealand with hopes of finally completing their family circle, but as the saying goes, things are not always as they seem... 

At first glance in the movie Safe, you'd think that housewife "Carol White" would have it all... A great family and a great home surrounded by a white picket fence. As like many things in life, things aren't always what they seem as "Carol" suddenly becomes "environmentally sensitive", meaning she gets allergic reactions from outside fumes and toxins that naturally occur in the outside industrial world we live in. After seeing an infomercial about the "Wrenwood" resort, a new-age institute specifically made for the "environmentally ill", she has no other choice, but to leave her husband and stepson behind in order to treat her so-called illness...   

The movie Silence Of The Lambs is known for more gruesome scenes than we can count! Anthony Hopkins plays the role of serial cannibal murderer and psychiatrist "Dr. Hannibal Lector" who attempts to "help" a FBI trainee solve a series of murders happening throughout the Eastern Coast of the US. In the process, an extremely dangerous game of cat and mouse ensues where only one of them is destined to win... 

Do we really need to explain why Pulp Fiction belongs on this list? Where do we even start? Pulp Fiction, unlike all of the movies on this list, is a story torn apart into ca. 20 minute long, out-of-order segments with topics ranging anywhere between overdose, an accidental killing and even robbery! All of the movie's pieces come together at the end in the ultimate showdown between Samuel L. Jackson and two liquor store thieves! We know it sounds crazy, but you need to trust us! You won't regret watching this Tarantino classic! 

The movie Close-Up follows Hossain Sabazian who impersonates the famous movie director Mohsen Makhmalbaf in order to convince the family Tehran to star in his new so-called film. The family, who is, at first, completely convinced that Hossain is in fact Makhmalbaf, starts to suspect that Mohsen might not be the Hollywood storyteller he says he is... This one is nothing short of a masterpiece!
