It has been seen in dramas, science fiction films, action, suspense, and also in romantic comedies. Among her best-known films are Dangerous Friendships or Gattaca, although she is undoubtedly known worldwide for her work on Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, both directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Her film debut was in Johnny Be Good (1987) and Kiss Daddy Goodnight (1987), both with marginal success. Her next film was The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988), directed by Terry Gilliam and that although now it is almost a cult film, at the time it was a commercial flop.
In 1993 she did a test for what would be the new Quentin Tarantino film. Initially, the director was not super impressed, but after having dinner with her everything changed. Pulp Fiction became one of the highest-grossing and cult films of all time. She was nominated for an Oscar for best-supporting actress the following year. She became Tarantino's favorite actress, who compared her to Garbo and Dietrich. After five years away from leading roles, she reappeared in 2003 in her new collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, Kill Bill, which would relaunch her career.
