In a new clip, Jimmy Kimmel is paying a sweet tribute to former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host Regis Philbin, who passed away in July 2020. The promo clip was released on Thursday by ABC and looks back at Philbin's incredible legacy on the iconic show, which he hosted from the premiere in 1999 until the end of season three in 2002.

In the promo clip, Kimmel reflects on his time with the late Regis Philbin and talks about the upcoming season of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: "I'm hosting this show, but this is his show," Kimmel says. "Ultimately, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? it's like he left me a beautiful car."
We see Regis on the set back in the early days of the show and footage of a conversation the late star had with new host Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year. "No one will ever be better at doing this than you," Kimmel told Philbin at the time. "That's why people love this show. It's a great game, but Regis is the reason."
Right after Philbin passed away in July, Kimmel expressed his grief on Twitter and wrote: "Regis was a great broadcaster, a good friend, and a tremendous amount of fun. He leaves behind a beautiful family and a TV legacy that will likely go unmatched. Regis, I hope our friend Rickles met you at the pearly gates with open arms and a slew of the insults you loved so much."
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? hosted by Jimmy Kimmel premieres on ABC on Sunday, October 18th at 9 pm Eastern Time (8 pm central).
