- Criminal Minds is getting rebooted
- Six former stars are back for the revival
- Mandy Patinkin isn't — but he has a new show
Criminal Minds is all set to return with six of its former cast members. And fans are excited, even if there are big omissions — like "Reid" actor Matthew Gray Gubler.
It wasn't a big surprise, but neither Thomas Gibson nor Mandy Patinkin joined the new Criminal Minds either. Both stars exited the series under controversial circumstances. And Patinkin is now launching a crime series of his own.
Mandy Patinkin has a new crime show but it isn't Criminal Minds
Mandy Patinkin, who played "Jason Gideon" on Criminal Minds, has a new show heading to Hulu. Also a crime series, it's called Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem.
THR announced Patinkin's new show today and noted he will star as detective "Rufus Cotesworth," who must solve a murder aboard a cruise liner on the Mediterranean. It's a drama that will have 10 episodes.

Mandy Patinkin was an original star of Criminal Minds, but he left the series mysteriously after three seasons. The actor later said he couldn't cope with the violent storylines and regretted joining the show. Nevertheless, Patinkin is now returning to crime TV.
The upcoming Criminal Minds reboot, which is expected to get a 10-episode first season, will feature returning stars Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, Joe Mantegna, Adam Rodriguez, Aisha Tyler, and Kirsten Vangsness.
