Prince William and Duchess Kate are celebrating their oldest son as he turns 8! While there had been speculation that the Cambridge family might not release a photo for Prince George's birthday, William and Kate took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the annual portrait of their oldest son.
Prince George gives a toothy smile in new birthday photo
The photo that William and Kate shared shows how much their son has grown over the years, with little George looking more mature than ever! Sitting on top of a car, the young royal wears an orange and navy striped t-shirt as he smiles for the camera. And of course, he's seen wearing shorts— royal blue ones that match his outfit.
"Turning eight(!) tomorrow," the photo caption reads, next to a celebratory emoji and birthday cake. Kate is credited as the photographer alongside a camera emoji. The Duchess of Cambridge has recently become known for her photography skills, which she learned from her father, Michael. In April, she also took Prince Louis' birthday portrait as he turned 3.
Now that Prince George is 8, there has been talk of him following another royal tradition— continuing his education at a boarding school. It remains to be seen whether or not William and Kate will choose this route for their son. Earlier on in the month, George also attended a football match with his parents, the family supporting England at the Euro 2020!
