Oprah with Meghan and Harry is now just 10 days away — and UK viewers still await confirmation on how they'll be able to watch the interview.
Behind the scenes, there's reportedly been a bidding war among UK broadcasters to get the special on British television. And, according to Variety, ITV has emerged as the frontrunner to land Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah with Meghan and Harry: Watch interview in the UK?
Reportedly, streamers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are not contenders for the interview, because ViacomCBS—which is producing the special—wants it to land with a free-to-air broadcaster to maximize viewing potential.
Variety says Sky is out of the running and the BBC "is not involved in a bidding war" and it is already airing The Queen's Commonwealth Day speech the same day, March 7. So, ITV appears to be the likely destination for Oprah with Meghan and Harry in the UK, but no deal has been announced at this time.
Air date and time for Meghan and Harry's Oprah interview
In North America, the primetime TV special will air on CBS on Sunday, March 7, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. For the moment, an air date and time remain unconfirmed for the UK.
The intimate 90-minute interview will be "wide-ranging" as Oprah is first joined by Meghan for a round of questions on her experiences as a royal and life "under intense public pressure." Prince Harry then joins the pair to talk the move to the United States and their "future hopes and dreams for their expanding family."
All eyes, of fans and critics alike, will no doubt be on the interview, following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's permanent departure from royal work and news that they're expecting a second child.
This week, an insider shared details on what to expect, calling it a "very candid" interview where Harry and Meghan will be "speaking their truth."
