- William and Kate are embarrassed
- A family holiday photo had fans making fun
- It all has to do with what looks like a Photoshop fail
The royal duo, known for their picture-perfect family, are reportedly "embarrassed" after their 2023 Christmas card raised eyebrows and sparked a social media frenzy over alleged heavy photo editing. It wouldn't be the first time a famous person gets caught using digital aids to enhance certain parts of their image.
They have some explaining to do
According to an insider spilling the tea to 'Us Weekly', William and Kate were just as "shocked" as the public by the reaction to their holiday snapshot.
The controversial black-and-white image, which debuted on Instagram, featured the couple alongside their adorable offspring: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5).
"It’s a beautiful, simple and classy family photo that so many can relate to," one person commented. "I love the down to earth of the denim and converse. Well done."
On Saturday, William and Kate released the black-and-white photo, which features them, Louis, 5, and 10-year-old Prince George and 8-year-old Princess Charlotte in matching white button-down shirts.
William and Middleton also have not publicly responded on the apparent editing mishap – even though the original post of the photo on Instagram is filled with people calling out the flub.
The family, dressed in casual chic with jeans and button-downs, flashed their royal smiles for the camera.
"Our family Christmas card for 2023," the Prince and Princess of Wales proudly captioned the pic. But little did they know, their card would become the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons!
Eagle-eyed netizens quickly took to the comments section, pointing out some peculiarities. "There's an extra leg in this picture!!!! How did the photographer not notice?? Omg," exclaimed one Instagram detective.
Another sleuth questioned, "Anyone talking about why Prince Louis is just missing a finger?!?" Indeed, little Louis' hand appeared to be a finger short as it rested on a chair's armrest.
Despite the online buzz, William and Kate have kept mum on the photo faux pas, maintaining their regal composure. Meanwhile, other royals like King Charles III and Queen Camilla also released their own holiday cards, though without any digital drama.

As the royals prepare for their Christmas festivities, including the traditional service at St Mary Magdalene Church, the Cambridge clan's holiday card mishap serves as a reminder that even royalty isn't immune to the pitfalls of the digital age.
It turns out even royals want to change things up from reality. If they use photo aids for their images maybe we shouldn't feel so bad about using them ourselves.
In any case, this goes to show that absolutely nothing gets by the internet and their unofficial detectives who will always scrutinize everything.
So, what do you think? Was it a royal photo flop or just a trick of the eye? Either way, this regal riddle has certainly added an extra dash of spice to the holiday gossip!
