- The British royals opened their financial book
- Last year's numbers are stark
- THIS has citizens very angry
The fact is, the British royal family costs a lot of money every year. This is usually covered by the Royal Grant, a fund made available to the royals annually. As the financial report for 2022, which has now been released, shows, the money wasn't enough this time. In addition to the £86.3m, there was not only £9.8m in self-generated income, but Charles also had to draw millions of pounds from the royal reserves.
The Royals have some explaining to do
In total, the royal family cost 107.5 million pounds (equivalent to 125.25 million euros), five percent more than in the previous year. The royal family cites the changes of throne and the renovations of Buckingham Palace as the reasons.
