The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in the UK Holocaust Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony on Monday January 27th, in honour of the 75th Anniversary of Liberation of Auschwitz.

Prince William took the stage to pay tribute to his great-grandmother Princess Alice by reading a letter written by a friend of the late Princess. Princess Alice hid the Cohen family in her Athens home after the Nazis invaded, according to Hello.
Prince William: "courageous act of Princess Alice"
Duchess Catherine appeared emotional in the audience as Prince William read the moving letter. "The great-granddaughter of Rachel Cohen, Evy Cohen, said this two years ago: 'My family would not exist without the courageous act of Princess Alice. Her story of incredible courage must keep being told in her memory," the Prince read.

"My generation, the past generation and the future generation are, and will eternally be, grateful to his great-grandmother Princess Alice for the great act of bravery, risking her own life to take in a family in need,'" the letter continued.
The ceremony and speech comes just one day after Duchess Catherine revealed her new photography project. She took striking images of two Holocaust survivors with their families for an exhibition that will be launched soon.
