Prince Harry had an unusual approach when it came to texting Meghan Markle, but it worked in his favour! As People reports, a new excerpt from the book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family reveals that Harry's style of sending texts was one of the things that caught Meghan's attention!
Meghan found Harry's texting style "funny and adorable"
Harry couldn't help but be enthralled by Meghan from the start. "Wow," he said of her to a friend later on, according to Finding Freedom. "The most beautiful woman I’ve seen in my life." A source also mentions in the book that Harry and Meghan "were in their own little world" when they met in the summer of 2016, while on a blind date at London's Soho House with friends.
After the date was over, Meghan was back in her hotel room, but Harry texted her right away! "His messages were often short and full of emojis," authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand shared, "in particular the ghost emoji, which he often used instead of a smiley face. For what reason? Nobody knows. But Meghan found his texting etiquette funny and adorable, just like the prince."
Harry wanted Meghan "to know he was very interested" in her
Harry's text messages ended up leading to a second date for just the two of them! "He definitely didn’t hide the fact that he was keen," a friend of Meghan's shared in the book. "He wanted her to know he was very interested."
"It was as if Harry was in a trance," another friend revealed. And as People mentions, just six weeks after they'd met, Harry took Meghan to a place close to his heart— Africa! The two shared a romantic five-day getaway in Botswana, out of the spotlight.
In 2019, the couple visited Africa again, as Harry introduced both her and their son Archie to South Africa during a royal tour! Harry's frequent use of the ghost emoji isn't the only fun fact about the early days of his and Meghan's relationship that Finding Freedom shared! The book also revealed that in an attempt to keep things on the down low, Harry had a secret Instagram when the two were dating.
