Prince Harry's latest public appearance came at an annual event that holds significant meaning for him! On Monday, the Duke of Sussex showed up at this year's Diana Awards via a virtual speech, which saw him reflect on Princess Diana's legacy and praise those actively working to make a difference in the world.

Prince Harry says Princess Diana would be "so proud" of recipients

Prince Harry started the message by talking about "acknowledging and celebrating the incredible young people" being recognized with a Diana Award this year. The worldwide award is named after Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, and intended to give special recognition to those who have enacted social change.

The Duke of Sussex said he was "truly honored to be celebrating your work, your commitment to change making, and the vital role you have taken in celebrating a new generation of humanitarianism." He also mentioned that he and William will be paying tribute to Diana for her 60th birthday, saying "she would be so proud of you all for living authentic life with purpose and compassion for others."

Harry then went on to reflect on how Diana "witnessed a boundless energy and passion" within the young people she saw inspire change in the world. "As it has done for 21 years now, The Diana Award carries her legacy forward by putting young people at the center of our future and this has never been more important," he shared.

He also spoke about how he and Meghan Markle view the world as being "at the cusp of change," explaining that "swift action" needs to be taken regarding socioeconomic inequity. "There is great need for young leadership and there is no greater time to be a young leader," Harry said. "I believe in you."

Harry finished his speech to this year's Diana Awards recipients by thanking them for "inspiring us with your brilliance, your determination, and your compassion. Your actions hold the potential to lead a life-changing impact." A few days ago, Harry arrived back in the U.K., ahead of the upcoming statue unveiling honouring Diana on what would have been her birthday.
