Prince William and Prince Harry's distance is now reflected in a charitable endeavour that carries their mother's name.
On Monday, news broke that the brothers agreed to divide future proceeds from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Each prince will now direct money from the foundation to their own charity efforts.
Prince William & Prince Harry split on Diana Memorial Fund proceeds
Previously, the fund had directed its proceeds to the Royal Foundation dating back to 2013. Prince William, Duchess Kate, Prince Harry, and Duchess Meghan headed this joint foundation until the Sussexes broke away in 2019 — first with SussexRoyal and now with Archewell.

According to The Guardian, William and Harry signed on this decision in December 2019, but it only came to light upon the release of financial documents. This means the decision dates back to one month before Harry and Meghan announced plans to step back from their duties as senior royals.
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund no longer engages in fundraising, but it does still receive donations and legacies. The Royal Foundation's annual report for 2019 shows it received £21,346 (about $27,000) in proceeds for 2019, for example.

Prince William and Duchess Kate, meanwhile, continue to serve as the principals of the Royal Foundation, which still receives the Duke of Cambridge's future proceeds from the Diana fund.
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was founded following the 1997 death of Princess Diana. The Royal Foundation took on legal control of the fund in 2013, and was briefly helmed by the Cambridges and Sussexes following Harry and Meghan's 2018 royal wedding. But now, the Duke has elected to direct his Diana Fund proceeds to Sentebale.
