Prince Harry has entered 2021 balancing mixed emotions.

Currently, the Duke is living with his family in California, where he's "pretty happy," according to Tom Bradby, a confidant of Harry and Duchess Meghan. Bradby spoke on the couple's contentment in the U.S. during a new interview, where he nonetheless described how Prince Harry is "heartbroken" by conflicts with the Royal Family.

Prince Harry "happy" in U.S. but still "heartbroken" in 2021

On Saturday, Bradby joined ITV's Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, where he opened up on Prince Harry's mindset after a tough year. "I think he is heartbroken by the situation with his family," Bradby said of the Duke.

"But are they unhappy out there? No, I don't think that's right. I think they are pretty happy actually, but I think they wrestle with their position in life—I think they all do," said Bradby, who in 2019 interviewed Harry and Meghan while in Africa.

"Well, just the situation with the family clearly isn't ideal and it has been a very difficult year for them all," he said. "There are still a lot of hurt feelings on all sides, and it's very difficult."

Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship?

Bradby's comments were recognized as those of a confidant, as he has known Prince Harry since his teens and worked closely with him on the documentary from the Sussexes' 2019 tour of Africa. Not long after, Harry and Meghan negotiated their stepping down as working royals, and increasingly-fractured relations with the Royal Family followed.

In recent weeks, there were reports that Prince Harry and Prince William devoted time over the holidays to work on their differences stemming from the royal exit. But, not long after, another round of reports said that Harry's use of Princess Diana's image in charity work has left William "concerned" his brother is "trying to take ownership" of their late mother's legacy.
