Kate Middleton had a hands-on approach during her visit to a South Yorkshire baby bank on Tuesday! As People reports, the organizations provide families who are in need with essential supplies for infants, such as diapers, shoes, and books.
Kate talks about importance of baby banks with families
Kate helped Baby Basic UK & Baby Basics Sheffield unload deliveries and sort through donations of various items. She also talked to families about their experiences with baby banks! "Over recent months, I have heard from families who have been supported by baby banks through the most difficult of times and I have been deeply moved by their stories," she shared.
"Having somewhere to turn to for support is important for all families, and baby banks work every day, up and down the country, to provide immediate, tangible and practical help for parents and carers when they are most in need." As People mentions, baby banks have become more important than ever because of the coronavirus.
Kate partners with high-end retailers for charity drive
Kate had previously paid a visit to Baby Basics in West Norfolk, which made her decide to launch a drive with donations from high-end retailers! "Baby banks are driven by incredible volunteers, demonstrating the power of community spirit in supporting families and coming together to raise the next generation," she continued.
"Thanks to the generosity of the companies taking part in this initiative, baby banks across the U.K. will be able to support even more families through this particularly challenging time." As Hello! mentions, the dress Kate wore appears to be the same one she wore to Wimbledon in 2019! She also wore a face mask, in keeping with current preventative measures against the coronavirus.
Kate's outing to the baby bank marks her first royal engagement since she returned from her summer holiday with Prince William and their kids! The royal couple has continually stepped out to support those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
Kate and William were seen in public together for the first time since lockdown began in June, when they reunited during a visit with hospital staff. Last month, Kate and William also announced charity donations they had made in support of those on the front lines during the pandemic!
