According to The Daily Mail, the former First Lady of the United States, Hillary Clinton, met Duchess Meghan for the very first time after paying a visit to Frogmore Cottage. Clinton was reportedly secretly invited to the London residence by the Duchess of Sussex.
Hillary and Meghan shared a hug before spending the day together and talking about that famous letter the royal mum wrote when she was 11, demanding the former Democratic presidential nominee to remove a "sexist" advertisement. Meghan's husband Prince Harry joined them, as well as baby Archie, who reportedly got in some cuddles with the former secretary of state!
Hillary Clinton talks about the attacks Meghan has received from British press: "I want to hug her"
Earlier this week during an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live, Hillary Clinton commented on the attacks Duchess Meghan has been receiving from the British tabloids in the few past months, "Oh my God, I want to hug her! I feel as a mother I just want to put my arms around her. I want to tell her to hang in there, don’t let those bad guys get you down. Keep going, do what you think is right,” Clinton told host Emma Barnett.
Hillary Clinton, who is currently promoting her book The Book of Gutsy Women, added that the Duchess of Sussex should take a break, since all she has done is fall in love and raise a family, "She has made her own way in the world. Then she falls in love, and he falls in love with her, and everybody should be celebrating that because it is a true love story. You can just look at them and see that," she said.
Hillary Clinton has one piece of advice for Duchess Meghan
Having been in the spotlight for many years, it seems like Hillary Clinton knows what she's talking about and understands what it feels like when your personal life is publicly exposed.
After adding that people "don't choose who they fall in love with," she mentioned that Meghan can find some ways of dealing with public attention, "There are some techniques that can be learned along the way, some humor, some deflection, whatever, which I’m sure she will come to. But it is tough what she is going through. And I think she deserves a lot better,” Clinton said.
