"Boom Clap": Charli XCX's rise to fame
Charlotte began her music career through the social media website MySpace. She self-uploaded all of her material in 2008, thus leading to her discovery by a promoter who had her perform at parties and raves. Her musical name - Charli XCX - derives from her MSN Messenger name, which was used on flyers to promote her. All of this eventually led to her first contract signing in 2010.
However, it wasn't until a couple of years later that her song "I Love It" became a massive hit globally, reaching the Top 10 charts in both North America and Europe! Her next musical adventure came along with female rapper Iggy Azaela in the hit "Fancy", an earworm that was nominated for two Grammys!
Additionally, she came out with the song "Boom Clap" that same year, which also came in hot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts from her second album Sucker (2014).
By this point in her career, Charli had received multiple Billboard Awards and critical acclaim for her dance-pop style of music. During the Prismatic World Tour in 2015, she also opened for one of the biggest pop acts of this day and age - Katy Perry. Since, she's toured and performed with Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello.
Today, the successful, young artist has collaborated with various other popular musicians on her recent albums, including Lizzo, Haim, and Sky Ferreira. She released her third studio album, 'Charli' in 2019, and her album, 'How I'm Feeling Now', was released on May 15th, 2020. Her most recent album is 'Crash' which was released in 2022.
