Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are officially divorced! It's been confirmed by People that as of this Tuesday, new legal documents have surfaced declaring an end to their matrimony. Cyrus and Hemsworth were allegedly able to come to a settlement regarding the divorce proceedings last month, making the process fairly straightforward. The couple got married in December of 2018, and their marriage itself only lasted for 7 months before Hemsworth filed for divorce.
Miley and Liam: what went wrong with the couple?
Cyrus and Hemsworth's short-lived marriage came as a surprise since the pair had seemingly settled down after being in a years' long on-again, off-again relationship that started when they met on set of The Last Song. Hemsworth initially proposed to Cyrus in 2012 and the two were briefly engaged at that time before breaking up the year after. They both dated other people before reconnecting in 2016, when they once again became committed to each other.
However, court documents cite the split being caused by "irreconcilable differences" within their relationship, without specifying exactly what those differences were.
