American singer Miley Cyrus and Australian actor Liam Hemsworth met in 2009 while filming the Nicholas Sparks' movie The Last Song; they had a relationship and got engaged in 2012, but broke up in 2013; however they reconciled in 2015 and finally tied the knot in December 2018 in Tennessee. But now, less than one year after getting married, the couple announced their breakup last weekend and fans were truly surprised.

Just a few hours ago Miley Cyrus broke her silence on social media after news on her split from Liam Hemsworth was announced. The singer posted three pictures of herself with a beautiful Italian landscape in the background which she captioned with some meaningful messages about the importance of protecting the environment: “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win. Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable.”, she wrote.
"The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time’… it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own,” she added.

Just a couple of hours before their breakup was announced, the singer shared some pictures of herself without her diamond engagement ring. Miley has been travelling with the also newly-single star Kaitlyn Carter, who recently split from her husband Brody Jenner; Cyrus and Carter were spotted kissing in Italy last weekend.
It seems that Liam and Miley decided to separate in order to evolve and change as individuals and to focus on themselves and their careers, such as Miley implied in her most recent Instagram post where she wrote: "Life’s a climb... but the view is great."
