Wonder Woman 1984
The new "Wonder Woman" film, as its title suggests, takes place in the year 1984. Where the earlier film was set during the WWI era, the sequel will see Gadot's "Wonder Woman" battling the villains "Maxwell Lord" and "Cheetah" in the 1980s.
Director Patty Jenkins returns for the sequel, as do the first film's stars, Gadot and Pine. Wonder Woman 1984 will also feature Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal, who play the villains in the film.

What else you need to know about the film
Wonder Woman 1984 is set for a release date of June 5, 2020. The new photographs from the film reveal "Wonder Woman" with a flashier gold appearance. '80s fashion like the fanny-pack also feature on Chris Pine's character. (New Order's '80s classic "Blue Monday" also scores the film's trailer!)
Plans for a third "Wonder Woman" film starring Gadot are already in the works as well.
Some social media users have positively compared the film's promotional visuals to the style of Thor: Ragnarok, one of the more lively and well-received Marvel films to date. Ragnarok was directed by recent Oscar-winner Taika Waititi.
