Warner Bros prepares Harry Potter series for HBO Max
Fans of Harry Potter have a new reason for subscribing to HBO Max, as the platform will host the first live-action series to be produced based on the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling.
This week, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Warner Media's future plans for its new streaming platform include this ambitious project for which there is still neither a story nor a specific team.
While it is news that HBO executives and Warner are participating in meetings to find a plot for a television series based on Harry Potter, there are currently no associated writers or cast members announced, as the conversations are still in extremely early stages and no agreements have been made.
Warner Bros. is seeking writers for the Harry Potter series which will premiere on HBO Max
Despite the early status of the project, multiple media outlets in the United States have reported that Warner has already met with some television writers to explore possible dramatic lines inspired by Rowling's texts.
If materialized, the author would have to give approval to any project that is prepared about the world of "Harry Potter", since she controls all the rights to the literary work.
With these plans, Harry Potter becomes one more of the properties that Warner Media is set to reprise on its new streaming platform, after planning special programs with the casts of Friends and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a new season of Sex and the City, and one series of individual episodes of Game of Thrones.
