After almost 11 years since we last saw "Carrie Bradshaw", "Charlotte York" and "Miranda Hobbes," the girls will be returning to our screens. This weekend, HBO Max announced that it is preparing a revival of the hit series Sex and the City with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Kim Cattrall, who became one of the most popular actresses of the nineties with her performance as saucy "Samantha Jones", will not participate in this new chapter for the series created by Darren Star. Here is everything we know about the project.

Sex and the City returns to the screen without Kim Cattrall

HBO Max announced the return of Sex and the City with three of its leading actresses.

"I couldn't help but wonder… where are they now?" Actress Sarah Jessica Parker wrote as a caption on her Instagram account along with a video announcing the revival of the series under her work name And Just Like That

According to Variety, the return of Sex and the City will address the lives of "Carrie" (Parker), "Charlotte" (Davis) and "Miranda" (Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s. Kim Cattrall, whose issues with Sarah Jessica Parker during the series were extremely well known, will not return to play "Samantha."

And Just Like That: the return of Sex and the City

Although not much is known about the return of the series yet, it is expected that the new chapters will pick up the story of the characters after the events of Sex and the City 2.

Michael Patrick King, who wrote some of the most important chapters of the series, will serve as executive producer of the project, as well as its three protagonists. According to press reports, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon will receive compensation in excess of one million dollars for each of the 10 half-hour episodes produced!

Sarah Jessica Parker herself responded to fans when questioned why Kim Cattrall will not be featured. When one fan commented on her post "She didn't tag Samantha Jones" another responded with "they dislike each other." So Sarah commented, "No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X."
