The Powerpuff Girls reboot has officially found its stars! The popular cartoon is getting a live-action update, and now, as Deadline reported on Tuesday, the actresses playing its three title characters have officially been cast!

The Powerpuff Girls: what we know about the new show

The Powerpuff Girls premiered in 1998, and is about a group of young girls that were accidentally created with superhuman abilities who band together to fight crime. The show ran for six seasons and is still beloved today because of its nostalgia factor, so it makes perfect sense that the reboot is geared towards the audience that originally grew up with it!

As Deadline shares, the CW's take on The Powerpuff Girls reimagines its titular trio as "disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting," but find themselves forced to band together again. Jennifer's Body screenwriter Diablo Cody has been tapped to pen the script for the pilot alongside Heather Regnier, and Maggie Kiley will direct.
