The Irregulars is Netflix's new detective series that brings a refreshing twist to "Sherlock Holmes" adaptations we've seen in recent years. Here's what you need to know about the British show that premieres today on the streamer.

The Irregulars: Netflix's new 2021 British detective series

The Irregulars is a Netflix Original series about a youth gang in Victorian London who work with "Dr. Watson" to solve crimes for "Sherlock Holmes." Netflix writes, "As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, it'll be up to the Irregulars to come together to save not only London but the entire world."

As the trailer previews, the series brings supernatural and horror genre angles to the world and characters in the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The "Baker Street Irregulars" are characters created by Doyle, appearing in two of his novels and one short story.
