The Half of It is Netflix's new queer young adult drama film! It debuts on the platform on May 1. The first trailer for the film went online on Thursday, when it quickly went viral on social media.
Leah Lewis stars in the film as "Ellie," a student who navigates friendship and romance with a male jock and another popular girl at their school. Watch the trailer below!

Netflix describes The Half of It as follows:
"Shy, straight-A student Ellie is hired by sweet but inarticulate jock Paul, who needs help winning over a popular girl. But their new and unlikely friendship gets complicated when Ellie discovers she has feelings for the same girl."
The film is written and directed by Alice Wu, whose only previous credit is the well-received 2004 independent drama, Saving Face.

The Half of It: Netflix subscribers have high expectations!
Just on YouTube, the trailer for The Half of It quickly amassed over 2 million views in its first 24 hours. Responses to the trailer on YouTube and social media were exceedingly positive.
Viewers are excited for the film's exploration of an Asian-American and queer young adult experience - along with its potential to subvert typical coming-of-age genre traits.
