'The Revenant'

It doesn't matter what Leonardo DiCaprio stars in, it's almost always bound to be great! In The Revenant, he plays the role of "Hugh Glass," a frontiersman who sustains a brutal bear attack and is left abandoned by his fellow huntsman in the uncharted winter wilderness. "Glass" must utilize his survival skills in order to make it home alive... Thank goodness he finally won an Oscar for this masterpiece!

In the 2001 classic A Beautiful Mind, we have the antisocial mathematician "John Nash" played by Russell Crowe, who accepts a secret job in cryptography allegedly given to him by the CIA. What ensues is a wild good chase in which "John" is left to question what is reality and what isn't. A very interesting piece of work with a surprise plot twist at the end!

A once normal family man turned completely mad... In the 20th-century tale There Will Be Blood, we follow the lives of "Daniel Plainview" (Daniel Day-Lewis), a money-driven businessman specializing in oil, and "Eli Sunday," (Paul Dano) an extremely religious preacher who seems destined to spread the word of God. The lives of the two men constantly clash, leaving them in constant conflict throughout the film... put this one on your bucket list!

'Django Unchained'

When it comes to international actors, Christoph Waltz is the first name that always comes to our minds! Here he plays the role of "Dr. King Schulz" alongside "Django" (Jamie Foxx). With the help of "Dr. Schulz," "Django" is freed from slavery in order to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation owner named "Calvin Candie". Classic Tarantino, this one really goes all out when it comes to gore and violence... Django Unchained definitely isn't for the faint of heart!

'Blood Diamond'

Blood Diamond is a true DiCaprio classic! The fisherman "Solomon Vandy" (Djimon Hounsou) is kidnapped by a group of rebels and sent to work in the diamond mines of Sierra Leone. Upon mining, he discovers a pink-coated diamond. Shortly after being arrested by the government army, he is taken to prison and ratted out by his fellow mine workers. It is then where "Danny Archer," played by Leonardo DiCaprio, comes onto the scene and proposes an offer the young African man can't refuse— the blood diamond in exchange for a reunion with his family...

'Slumdog Millionaire'

What best drama gallery would be complete without Slumdog Millionaire? After being accused of cheating in the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, the young "Jamal Malik," played by Dev Patel, reflects on his upbringing in the slums of Mumbai. A serious drama with an uplifting musical number at the end... What more can you ask for?

'Birdman'

Former superhero actor "Riggan Thomson," played by Michael Keaton, attempts to revive his once-prominent career by writing, directing, and starring in his own Broadway production. The classic tale of a struggling actor is really reeled into the spotlight in this 2015 drama... Trust us! Birdman doesn't disappoint!

'Black Swan'

There was no way we weren't going to mention Black Swan! Meet "Nina," a New York ballet dancer, whose life — like the lives of most people in her profession — is consumed by dance. After earning the role of the "Black Swan" in Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, she struggles to keep her sanity during the vigorous hours of training and constant harassment. This is one of Natalie Portman's greatest roles!

'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'

We were slightly surprised to see Jim Carrey starring in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but then again, this just shows us that he is an amazingly well-rounded actor! "Joel Barish" (Jim Carrey) is just your average heartbroken man struggling to get over his one true love, "Clementine" (Kate Winslet). After hearing of "Clementine's" procedure, which completely erased all memories of her time with "Joel", he decides to do the same only to realize that he may be making the biggest mistake of his life...

Clint Eastwood in "Gran Torino"

'Gran Torino'

We loved Clint Eastwood's badass role in Gran Torino! The bitter Korean War veteran "Walt Kowalski" (Eastwood) sets out to mentor his neighbour "Tao Vang Lor," who he catches attempting to steal the old man's most prized possession— his 1972 Gran Torino. This movie really dives deep into topics such as racial conflict, gang violence, and drugs... definitely a great watch!
