Robert Downey Jr. is the latest celebrity to land an Apple TV+ series! As Entertainment Tonight reports, Downey Jr. will have a supporting role in the show, which is based on real-life events, and also act as executive producer.
Downey Jr.'s new Apple TV+ show is a detective drama
Downey Jr. will be producing the Apple TV+ show alongside his team— consisting of himself, wife Susan Downey, and Amanda Burrell— as well as Adam Perlman. Perlman will be writing and executive producing the as-of-now untitled show, which has Michael Lista's Toronto Life article "The Sting" as its basis. Lista will be involved as co-executive producer.
"The series will follow a frustrated Canadian detective who takes on a decades-old cold case in hopes of winning a confession and becoming a hero," Entertainment Tonight shares. "The case quickly spirals out of control when the undercover cop attempts an elaborate sting, adding playacting cops, taxpayer resources and an unexpected friendship with the peculiar target."
Downey Jr. isn't the only Hollywood actor to head to the small screen lately! His Avengers co-star Chris Evans starred in a new Apple TV+ drama series earlier this year called Defending Jacob. It was also announced yesterday that Amy Adams will be starring in a brand-new limited series for Netflix! With the popularity of streaming services growing, it's no surprise that more and more A-list actors are making the transition to television!
