Rami Malek has given the world a sneak peek of his "Bond" villain, "Safin"! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Malek appears in a brand-new clip introducing the mysterious character, who Daniel Craig's "James Bond" will face off against in No Time to Die.
Malek says his character "Safin" is "a formidable adversary"
Malek's character "Safin" states that he plans to "eradicate people in order to make the world a better place" in the new clip. "What I really wanted from Safin was to make him unsettling, thinking of himself as being heroic," Malek says of the latest "Bond" villain. "Safin is a formidable adversary. James Bond has to adapt to that."
The director of No Time to Die, Cary Joji Fukunaga, also weighed in on why "Safin" poses a serious threat. "What he wants and what he's willing to do makes him a very frightening character both personally to Bond but also on a global level," Fukunaga explains. And as it turns out, the vengeful villain appears to be connected to someone from "Bond's" past!
"Safin" connected to Léa Seydoux's character "Madeleine"
Malek's "Safin" can be seen talking to a familiar character from the James Bond franchise in the new clip— Léa Seydoux's "Madeleine Swann"! "Madeleine" is a psychologist who was previously introduced as the "Bond girl" in 2015's Spectre, making the interaction between the two an interesting one.
No Time to Die was originally supposed to be released in April, but was postponed worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, now debuting on November 20. The movie also stars Ana de Armas as CIA agent "Paloma" and Lashana Lynch as another agent, "Nomi". And while much still remains unknown about Malek's "Safin," this newly released clip certainly gives a little more insight into what his motivations are!
