Léa Seydoux recently opened up about the character she plays in No Time to Die, "Madeleine Swann"! As Entertainment Tonight shares, Seydoux appeared on the official James Bond podcast, where she talked about the significance "Madeleine" has in the newest James Bond movie.
Seydoux calls Madeleine "the real love" in No Time to Die
Seydoux's "Madeleine" first appeared as the "Bond girl" alongside Daniel Craig's "James Bond" in 2015's Spectre, and the actress shared why her character has returned for No Time to Die. "I think that it’s also because of Bond and we needed Madeleine to tell Bond’s story," Seydoux explained. "I mean, it was important to see Bond in love again because he had this relationship with Vespa but she betrayed him."
As Entertainment Tonight explains, Seydoux was referring to Eva Green's character "Vesper Lynd," who appeared as "Bond's" love interest in 2006's Casino Royale. "But this time I think she’s the real love in a way, I think… the film is a love story," Seydoux continued. "It’s a story between the two of them, so it’s very unusual for a Bond film to see James Bond in love, right? And I think it’s quite modern in a way."
Seydoux talks about Craig's take on "James Bond"
Seydoux went on to talk about what makes No Time to Die a memorable entry in the James Bond franchise. "In this film it’s even more psychological and more emotional," she shared, "and I think that it’s something that Daniel as James Bond created with this character."
"He created a character that is more vulnerable and who has flaws and I think that’s what we like as an audience and it’s true that James Bond is like a… it’s not a real world, right?" Seydoux said. "But what we like is that in this world we can relate to the characters."

No Time to Die also stars Lashana Lynch, Rami Malek, Ana de Armas, and Ben Whishaw. The film was originally supposed to open in April, but its release became postponed worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, after quite a few months of waiting, fans of the James Bond movies are hopeful that No Time to Die will finally hit theatres on its new release date of November 20, 2020!
