There's been plenty of change in the NCIS world lately.
After Maria Bello and Emily Wickersham left the series last season, Mark Harmon said goodbye a few weeks ago. It goes without saying that fans are longing for the return of a familiar face. And it seems like one of the actors also shares that feeling.
Michael Weatherly: More NCIS hints on Twitter
On Twitter, actor Michael Weatherly, who used to play "Tony DiNozzo" on NCIS, is driving fans crazy with a new tweet that's fuelling speculation.
With a picture that shows him in his former NCIS role, Weatherly writes: "This guy woke me up this morning. Then I realized it was still a dream. He wouldn't stop talking about Gibbs. And his shoulder holster."
NCIS season 19: Michael Weatherly hinting at comeback?
For many followers, this is a sign that Michael Weatherly is very busy again with his old role. "I hope this means we might get an episode with dinozzo on our screens again," one user commented.
Whether "Tony DiNozzo" will actually return to NCIS remains to be seen. It is, however, just the latest hint from Michael Weatherly. He's been teasing fans about a possible NCIS return for several months now.
There's also been buzz that "Gibbs" could make a guest appearance after he recently left the team for a new life in Alaska. So it's interesting to see Weatherly bring Mark Harmon's character into his social media posts.
We're keeping our fingers crossed! NCIS season 19 is now off until the New Year. The next episode airs on Jan. 3.
