It seems that "Neo" and "Trinity" are coming back! Warner Bros just revealed that The Matrix will return for a fourth movie, and the best part of it is that Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles, while Lana Wachowski will write, direct, and produce the film.
"We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana", said Toby Emmerich, chairman of the Warner Bros. Pictures Group, before adding that she "is a true visionary, a singular and original creative filmmaker." Lana and her sister Lilly, formerly known as the Wachowski brothers Andy and Larry before switching gender, directed the original trilogy.
Who else will be part of the cast of Matrix 4?
The original film is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and there will be a series of special screenings across the United States to celebrate the occasion. Lana Wachowski recently said that she is very happy to work again with her friends and revealed some interesting facts about the upcoming film: "Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now."
It is still unclear if the new movie will be a direct sequel, and details about other cast members are still a mystery as well. It is not known if Laurence Fishburne will reprise his role as "Morpheus", but the character may be recast. Warner Bros has not announced a release date.
What are Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss doing now?
Keanu Reeves is currently reprising his role of "Ted" in the upcoming reboot Bill & Ted Face The Music; recently he also returned to his role as "John Wick" in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, and worked as a voice talent in Toy Story 4.
In the past years Carrie-Anne Moss has appeared in several successful television shows like Vegas, Jessica Jones, Chuck, and most recently Tell Me a Story.
