From 1970s Hollywood to the end of the world. Just a few months after receiving an Oscar nomination for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio has an apocalyptic new project on the horizon. He'll star in Don't Look Up, alongside some of today's biggest stars, including Jennifer Lawrence. Here's what we know about the new film by director Adam McKay.
Leonardo DiCaprio joins cast of Netflix movie Don't Look Up
On Twitter, Netflix unveiled the stars of its new comedy, which previously had Lawrence attached as a lead. We now know Don't Look Up will be a star-studded ensemble cast comedy.
According to the streamer, DiCaprio joins the Hunger Games star in a main role. Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Mathew Perry, Timer Sisley, and Rob Morgan round out the supporting cast.
So far, only DiCaprio and Lawrence have clearly-defined parts in the film, and it's worth remembering that McKay often plays with celebrity cameos.

In Don't Look Up, DiCaprio and Lawrence play scientists who try to warn society of a fast-approaching meteorite that will destroy the Earth. With the film, the Oscar-winning actor adds another project to watch for in his accomplished filmography.
29 years since his screen debut, DiCaprio has worked under the direction of successful filmmakers such as Agnieszka Holland (Total Eclipse), Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet), James Cameron (Titanic), Steven Spielberg (Catch Me If You Can), Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road), Christopher Nolan (Inception), Clint Eastwood (J. Edgar), Alejandro González Iñárritu (The Revenant), as well as Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese.
What's more, DiCaprio is preparing to shoot the crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon, where he'll work again with Scorsese and co-star with Robert De Niro.
