Kaitlyn Bristowe has a lot on her mind when it comes to Dancing With the Stars! In June, Bristowe learned that she would be one of the celebrity contestants in the upcoming season of DWTS, and now she's shared her feelings about appearing on the show in her web series!
Bristowe is "excited" but "a little bit nervous" about DWTS
Bristowe opened up during her web series, 9 to Wine with Kaitlyn Bristowe, about her hopes and fears surrounding being on DWTS. And while the episode's not out yet, the former "Bachelorette" star gave People an exclusive sneak preview of it!
"I'm going to be under a microscope again, and I feel like it took me a couple years to get out of that feeling of everybody's eyes on me and criticizing and just everybody has an opinion," Bristowe explained. "So my fear about going back into the world of national television with something as vulnerable as dancing, I'm excited, but I'm also a little bit nervous again to be critiqued for being myself."
Bristowe worries she'll be "terrible" at ballroom dancing
Bristowe also mentioned how her lack of experience is another worry for her. "You never want to be the girl that goes home night one. And that's another big fear of mine," she revealed.
"Even though I've grown up dancing and I have the confidence in the dance studio, I've never done ballroom dancing in my life," Bristowe continued. "What if I'm terrible at it?" Luckily for her, she has the perfect person to turn to to ask for advice!
Bristowe got advice from DWTS winner Hannah Brown
Bristowe has been talking to Hannah Brown, who's been in her shoes before! "Obviously Hannah [Brown] was the last Bachelorette. She just won Dancing with the Stars," she explained. "We're scheduling a call because she wanted to say congratulations, and I'm looking to her for so much advice and encouragement."
"She said, 'Get rest while you can.' I'm like, oh boy! She's like 10 years younger than me so ... I pulled my back the other day trying to do a squat. I might be in trouble!"
Bristowe was originally supposed to appear on DWTS in 2015
Bristowe also shared that she had been meant to go on Dancing With the Stars back in 2015, immediately following her season of The Bachelorette! However, things didn't work out at the time due to contractual obligations.
"They just said, 'You know, you're still under contract with The Bachelorette. We are not going to be doing any of our leads going on the show anymore, so, unfortunately, you are not able to go on,'" Bristowe said. "And I was devastated."
Bristowe has "no preference" of pros to be paired with
Bristowe said that while she was upset things didn't work out with DWTS back in 2015, over time she realized it may have been for the best. "The universe might have other plans for you," she reflected.
Now that she's set to finally dance her way onto the show, Bristowe admitted she has "no preference" when it comes to which dance pro she wants to be paired with. "I just want them to be like, nice," she said. "And want to win!"
Bristowe's season of Dancing With the Stars will also see a major shakeup! That's because it was announced that hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews have exited the show. Their role will be taken over by the new Dancing With the Stars host, Tyra Banks, who formerly hosted America's Got Talent!
