It will be a different season ahead for Dancing with the Stars as two fan-favourite and longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will be leaving the hit competition reality TV show. The upcoming season will be the 29th as the show has been on air since 2005 with Bergeron as host.
DWTS: Tom Bergeron Announces Exit From Show
Tom Bergeron made the announcement on Twitter yesterday saying, "Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me. It's been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career. I'm grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?"
Fans were quick to react to the disappointing news as they are unsure how the show will ever be the same without Tom's smiling face, quick wit, and great hosting abilities!
Following Bergeron's public announcement, ABC and BBC Studios gave a statement to ET that read: "Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ family. As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success."
"Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humour has become a hallmark of the show," the statement continued.
Erin Andrews Leaving Dancing with the Stars
Erin Andrews, who started hosting after competing herself on the show in 2010, has yet to comment on the news.
Bergeron publicly clashed with producers over the season 28 decision to more or less bring politics into the show by casting Sean Spicer, former Press Secretary of the United States.
It is unclear at this point what new direction Dancing with the Stars will take in its 29th season, however, we are looking forward to finding out!
