Is actor Scott Bakula planning a big TV comeback?
Fans haven't seen Bakula, 67, since his popular series NCIS: New Orleans ended in early 2021. But there's big news in the TV world, and it has to do with another of Bakula's famous shows.
Quantum Leap reboot is coming: Is Scott Bakula?
Long before Bakula played "Pride" on NCIS: NOLA, he was known for starring in the '90s sci-fi series Quantum Leap.
This week, news came that NBC is rebooting Quantum Leap. Is Bakula planning to reprise his role as time-traveller "Sam Beckett"?
While the reboot is official, Bakula's role is currently unknown. Reports say he is not attached at the moment, but it sounds like he'll likely be involved.
Industry outlet Deadline noted Bakula "has had conversations about potentially getting involved." THR added that "the actor may be involved."
Based on the plot, it would be odd if Bakula had no part in the new show: "It's been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.
"Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it."
Quantum Leap originally aired five seasons from 1989 to 1993.
The timing of the reboot is also bittersweet. The classic series featured Bakula and co-star Dean Stockwell, who just passed away last year.
Stayed tuned for news on Bakula's next TV adventure. He was on NCIS: New Orleans until the series was cancelled last season.
