The classic movie Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern, was originally released in 1990 and it is considered to be one of the greatest Christmas films of all time. That's why only a couple weeks ago fans were excited after learning that Disney+ is planning to release a reboot. Now we have some interesting details about it!
You probably remember the story of "Kevin McCallister" (Macaulay Culkin,) a kid who after being accidentally left at his home during Christmas time, finds a very easy way of surviving on his own... until his house is targeted by burglars! The film became quite popular especially with young viewers, for depicting a self-sufficient child.
This is everything we know so far about the Home Alone reboot
According to The Observer, there will be some changes in the upcoming film. The main character, for instance, will be named "Max" instead of "Kevin," and will be a little bit more mischievous; while "Kevin" was the innocent target of criminals, "Max" will reportedly steal from a couple that eventually decides to retaliate in some way Disney has not yet revealed.
Are Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern reprising their roles or appearing in some sort of way? Fans definitely expect to see them together on screen again but nothing has been officially confirmed, however, we do know that the upcoming reboot will be written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidel. While Disney+ launched a few days ago, details about the release date of the new version of Home Alone have not been announced, but production is set to start in 2020.
