We had hints and suspicions that "Alex" was not really in Iowa caring for his sick mother and finally in the last episode, "Jo" (Ellen Pompeo) broke down and admitted her husband had been keeping secrets from her! "Jo" was left overwhelmed and in tears at the thought that "Alex" had really left her for good before we got a sneak peak trailer for next weeks episode. We even see sweet and memorable flashbacks to the very beginning when the crew were just young interns.
