- Evan Rachel Wood joins Weird Al Yankovic biopic
- The Roku Channel shares new photo of Wood in character
- Wood joins cast of stars including Daniel Radcliffe
Evan Rachel Wood's latest role sees her portraying a pop music icon! As The Roku Channel revealed on Wednesday, Wood will be playing Madonna in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and the first image of her from the film has been released.
Wood channels Madonna in newly released still
Wood's involvement in the project came as a surprise to fans, but it makes perfect sense why she was cast. In the new still of her as Madonna, she stands in a fancy room, wearing a lacy black top and white tulle skirt with lots of jewelry. With her hair teased and dramatic makeup, she definitely resembles the "Material Girl" singer!
As Deadline mentions, Madonna's involvement in 'Weird Al' Yankovic's life came in 1985 when the folk singer made a parody of one of her biggest hits. It was announced last month that Daniel Radcliffe is set to star in the biopic, playing Yankovic himself. The project will make its debut on The Roku Channel, though no release date has been announced.

Wood is best known for appearing in the HBO Max series Westworld, playing the role of "Dolores". She also recently released a new documentary focused on the abuse she claims she suffered from former partner Marilyn Manson, called Phoenix Rising. Especially after seeing the photo of her in costume, we're excited to see her portrayal of Madonna!
