Emma Corrin has opened up about taking on the role of Princess Diana in the latest season of The Crown! As Hello! shares, Corrin revealed that it was a challenging part for her to take on, and she now feels a special connection to the royal.
Corrin had to "shut off all the noise" while playing Diana
Corrin admitted that she felt the pressure of taking on such an iconic role, which is why she did her best to tune out people's expectations! "I needed to shut off all the noise that was saying, 'this is huge. It’s her, how are you going to do this? What will people think?'" she shared. "It was terrifying and it’s not conducive to good work."
The actress also told British Vogue that she's become well acquainted with the late Princess of Wales after living out part of her life on-screen. "I feel I've got to know Diana like you would a friend," Corrin shared. "I know that sounds really weird, but I get a great sense of companionship from her."
The Crown season 4: here's what we know so far!
The Crown will include Princess Diana's wedding in the upcoming season, and Corrin recently talked about getting to wear the royal's iconic gown! Fans of the show are excited that a new preview was released last month for season four of The Crown— which will hit Netflix on November 15— showing the first look of Corrin as the Princess of Wales.
Season 4 of the royal drama will see Corrin as Lady Diana Spencer opposite Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles, and introduce Gillian Anderson. Anderson will be taking on the role of former U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. After season 4, there will be changes to the cast of The Crown once again, including Elizabeth Debicki taking over the role of Princess Diana for the final two seasons!
The creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan, recently talked about the parallels between Princess Diana and Meghan Markle, calling them "impossible" not to see. However, Meghan and Prince Harry won't ever be portrayed on the royal drama! We're looking forward to season 4 of The Crown, and seeing Corrin's take on such an influential royal!
